Pilar’s Wounds Are Begging to be Healed

Pilar has endured more pain than any dog ever should.

When Baw Baw Animal Welfare rescued this gentle boy, they discovered devastating injuries. He had open wounds on his neck that had become infested with maggots, a large area of dead and damaged tissue stretching down one of his front legs, and a painful, infected abscess on the other. Every movement must have been agonizing.

His veterinary team immediately began intensive treatment with IV fluids, powerful antibiotics to fight the infection, pain relief, vitamins, and supportive care to help stabilize him. Blood tests have also been performed to better understand his condition and guide the next stages of his recovery.

Pilar has a long road ahead. Treating severe infections and healing extensive wounds takes time and ongoing medical care. Thankfully, with the right treatment, he has a real chance at a brighter future.
