Piper is a 3-year-old Pitbull mix in Chicopee, MA, who needs $2,000 for TPLO.

I rescued Piper from a second chance Rescue- she was removed from a suspected dog fighting owner and was used as bait. She was terrified of everything , and to this day still is afraid of most people - especially men with beards. When I went to get her I saw that she had horrible skin and rash . She had cigarette burns on her neck and back., and wounds that were still healing , and giardia.

Piper is very sweet after she gets to know you and is especially loved by my sisters foster kids. She follows me everywhere to the best of her ability. She gets along great with my other rescues and cats. She will sit with my elderly mom all day and let her know if anyone is coming. My mom just loves her.

I work part time for a small company . I took my parents in 12 years ago , but lost my father last summer at age 90, my mom is still with me @ age 83. I know how much Piper hurts having had to do surgery on my knees. She is a sweet girl and means the world to us.

Piper needs TPLO surgery on both legs, with the right side being the worst that is being done first. My regular vet referred me to Dr.john Benson @ Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital. He has told me she needs the metal plate instead of just the nylon wire . He has told me she also has arthritis but should do well since she is so young.

Piper is a goofy dog, very happy and even when in pain will always give a tail wag , I swear she smiles. She cannot play with one toy -always has to have one in her mouth and one she pushes with her foot. When my sister brings the kids over she goes crazy, backs and whines until they are in the house.
