About this campaign
We got our dog Piper when she was just 7 weeks old. We actually drove six hours to pick her up and bring her home! At the time, we already had another rescue Boxer named Lyric, and we felt like she really needed a sister. When Piper arrived, she was so tiny that we started calling her “Tiny,” and the nickname just stuck.
Sadly, we lost Lyric to a brain tumor two years ago, which was really hard.
On Monday, July 21st I noticed a lump on Piper's side. I took pictures and messaged the vet. We were able to get her in on July 30th. I daily documented the lump from Am to Pm. July 31st, we found out that it is a mast cell tumor. It has been caught early, and surgery offers Piper a future. We have always taken our girls to East Hill Veterinary Hospital.
Piper is a sister to our kids, and she treats them that way too. She sleeps in our bed every night. She has this way of looking at the boys when they are acting up, teenagers, like she knows they're being ridiculous. She looks at them with this condescending look like " you guys are idiots," and we can't help but laugh. Piper is one of my children. I can't even think about not doing surgery.
Piper has cancer and needs surgery. We’re still paying off vet bills from losing our girl to brain tumor, Lyric, and can’t afford this treatment. Piper's chances are great with this surgery. Financial situation has changed with my job.
