About this campaign
I adopted Pippin in August 2016, in the middle of my divorce, at 3 months old. Now, with weeks before her 8th birthday, we're struggling to determine why she won't eat or drink.
My bubbly (demands instant affection from all who enter our home) baby girl is improving but not out of the woods.
She lives with her baby brother Raider, with whom she is bonded because of their close age.
We're being treated at Haw Creek Animal Hospital because our regular mobile vet wasn't available for 10 days. We discovered she has an infection, pancreatitis, and diabetes. We can't start her insulin until we stabilize her. Today's follow up involved an xray, which showed something on her left lung's lower lobe.
We've now had 4 visits this week, and one next week.
Pippin is the loudest talker you'll ever meet. She's never met a stranger, even harrassing my apartment maintenance crew for love and pets. I can't go to the bathroom alone. She mothers her brother like he's her kitten, even 7 years later.
I'm a freelance writer with inconsistent income and pay days. I am a board member of the Asheville Cat Weirdos Emergency Fund, and ineligible for assistance. My baby saved me during my divorce, and I can't imagine life without her.
