Plum is a 3-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Toledo, OH, who needs $1,700 for Femoral Head Osteotomy.

This is Plum, a sweet boy that was living under the deck of our home. We moved into this residence at the end of August and unfortunately our senior girl Bebe was too stressed by the move, passing away early morning September 7th at a vet ER.
Shortly after she passed, we begun seeing Plum, and feeding him on our back deck. We hope he somehow learned from her that we would help him.

Plum is unneutered (he will be sterilized at the time of this surgery for his hip), so he is still quarantined from our other cats. Plum initially showed all signs of being feral, but began warming up to me through perseverence (and possibly his wound made him desperate to trust someone). I was able to catch him without a trap, and he is now very affectionate - constant biscuits, purrs, and rubs.

Plum was so incredibly fearful when we met. He would run close to the ground with his tail tucked between his legs, head down and looking up and around every few seconds while eating to make sure it wouldn't be taken from him. Now, warm and safe with 3 mealtimes a day, he is learning what it means to be loved. He ducks away from pets far less, brushes and weaves through legs, purrs up a storm.

We started feeding Plum on our back deck in the first half of September. At the end of the month, he disappeared for a week and we feared the worst. When he returned on Oct. 6th, he had a horrible limp. I was able to scruff him into the hoise during a mral a few days later, and finally on the 27th of Oct., he received his dx of needing femoral head osteotomy. Thankfully, he is otherwise well!

My fiancé and I are both seriously chronically ill. I'm on SSDI, and he is dealing with long covid on top of his chronic pain. Our senior Bebe is also not the only pet loss we have endured this year. Plum healthy would be SUCH a relief, we just need help to get him there.
