About this campaign
We rescued Pluto on Halloween in 2025 from a local shelter. He lives with my boyfriend, Clay, and I as well as his big sister Juno in our apartment. We thought Pluto would be the perfect name for him, with his appearance and the name also went well with his sister's name, they both combined Clay and I's passions for space and mythology.
Pluto was diagnosed with a congenital liver shunt. It is a rare condition where the liver can't properly filter out toxins in the bloodstream. This can lead to neurological issues, which can eventually lead to death. The only way to guarantee Pluto can live a long and healthy life is through a specialized surgery that they can perform at Akron MedVet.
Pluto has been such a blessing for our little family. He is always finding ways to make us smile; whether that be sneak-attacking his sister, jumping into our arms from wherever he stands, or curling up with us on the couch for a movie night. He is always making us laugh, especially when he slides into his stretches or swims in his water bowl. He is truly a special guy and we love him dearly.
The diagnosis came suddenly, and the surgery cannot be delayed too long. We weren't prepared for this financially. Clay has supported both of us by paying most of our bills since I am still in college. We've looked into loans and credit cards, but none really panned out.
