Pookie Bear is a nine-year-old Pomeranian mix in Fayetteville, AR, who needs $873 for urgent surgery.

Heather W. is worried sick. Her beloved dog, Pookie Bear, needs urgent oral surgery. But she and her husband, a disabled veteran, can't afford it.

"I hope that the dental surgery that she needs will greatly improve the quality of her life," Heather tells Waggle. "I am also hoping it will prolong her life for years to come. She is almost ten years old. If the veterinarian (at Wedington Animal Hospital) hadn't alerted us to her serious dental needs, we would have known anything was going on. She still has the sweetest temperament."

The couple has loved Pookie Bear since she was a very tiny puppy. "She is an absolute delight to our family," Heather says. "We are so lucky to have her in our lives. She loves snuggles as much as I do. She is very protective and very social. She's always happy to see us and is an excellent listener. We are hoping to raise money for the surgery."
