Pope joined our little family on Valentine's Day 3 years ago. He was only 3 months old when we saw him at the rescue and just a little fur baby, but he stole our hearts. Pope has been an irreplaceable member of our family ever since. Pope is my fur baby still and even more- my sidekick and my best friend.

Pope and I will go outside whenever- no matter the weather! He lives for fetch in afternoons with my husband and loves to swim! He is friends with every dog, cat, or person he meets- and he brings so much joy to our life. There's nothing quite like coming home to Pope after a long day- I think I couldn't do another thing, and then he gets so happy I can't help but get crazy-happy with him!

In the long weeks when my husband worked out of town, or in those long months when I struggled with my own personal health issues, or this year in the early months of my pregnancy with my first child, Pope was my constant companion, comfort and protector. He is a giver to his core and a woman's best friend, no doubt. Pope is eighty pounds of pure love.

Pope started vomiting this morning and was unable to walk on his own. Then he had a seizure. I was terrified and my husband came home and carried him into the car and we rushed to the ER. They found a large mass, a benign tumor the veterinarian says, that needs to be removed surgically, this or Pope will die. This surgery can save his life and he can recover and live a normal, happy and full life.

My husband and I have already spent a good deal of money on Pope seeking care, but with our expecting a baby, we are at our financial limit. Nevertheless we are still hopeful that we will find a way.
