About this campaign

Poppy’s heartbreaking journey came to light when Tillie, one of her puppies, was found alone and tangled in netting. A kind neighbor called animal control, and thankfully, they came just in time. The next day, Poppy returned, still trying to care for her litter the best she could. That’s when the real rescue began—and what they found was heartbreaking.

Six tiny puppies, hidden under the home —two injured, one with painful, crusty eyes, and all in desperate need of care. When the owner was finally tracked down, the response was chilling: “That’s my daughter’s dog. She keeps getting out and getting knocked up. This is her fourth litter. I don’t want her.” Poppy and her pups were abandoned, but today, they are safe with a loving foster mom.

She visited the vet where she received treatment for hookworms, whipworms, and sadly, tested positive for heartworms—another silent sign of years of neglect. But despite it all, Poppy stole every heart in the room. Calm, gentle, and soaking up affection like she’d been waiting her whole life for it, the vet said she’ll have no trouble finding a home with a personality like hers.

Poppy and her puppies are being monitored closely, receiving medical care, and most of all: learning what it means to be safe. Please donate to help this sweet family receive the care they need.

The whole family is doing amazing! One time, Poppy came in to check on the kids in her foster home snuggling her puppies — she sniffed the puppies and kissed the kids in the face and went back to exploring the house. She loves her breaks from the puppies, and especially loves taking breaks in her backyard sunbathing by the water (supervised, of course)
