About this campaign
Poppy was given to my mother as a support puppy when she was six weeks old. My son Kevin lived with my mother as her caretaker and trained Poppy well. Kevin inherited Poppy when my mother died in April of Alzheimer’s. Poppy has also been a good support dog for Kevin. I think my mom named her Poppy because she was so cute and tiny, a little white poof of fur and it reminded her of a popcorn ball!
Poppy has such an awesome personality, even now as she hasn’t been able to walk for the last 2 to 3 weeks the depression seems to be lifting a little and she is beginning to act like her old self again, chewing on bones and squeezing her squeaky toys. She sleeps with Kevin at night and comes in with me in the morning when he goes to work. During the day she goes from her playpen to a stroller, etc
My husband and I are retired and my son came back to live with us after my mother died. He considers Poppy very much his support pet. She has helped him with Depression and anxiety. No one can be unhappy around Poppy because she is such a lovable energetic little dog.
It is just so bizarre that one day she lost the use of her hind legs and she’s only 20 months old. The vet said it is a herniated disc. We took her to a place in Denver, North Carolina called CARE. We have a follow up appointment scheduled for Thursday, September 10.
She is especially funny when she would run around with our cat outside. They are so cute together. She has a funny underbite that makes it look like she could you some braces! She growls when she needs to go out but that was before when she could walk, now she just tries to do the best you can because she can’t really feel when she needs to go.
