About this campaign

Poppy is just a baby, only a year old, trying to survive on the streets when the unimaginable happened. She was struck by an ambulance on a Saturday, and by the time she arrived at the shelter two days later, it was clear her leg was badly broken. Despite the pain she was in, Poppy’s gentle spirit shone through. She greeted staff with soft eyes, leaning in for comfort from the people she was learning to trust.

A full veterinary exam brought even more concerns. In addition to the broken leg that requires orthopedic surgery, Poppy tested positive for both Lyme disease and ehrlichia—two serious tick-borne illnesses that can weaken the immune system, cause joint pain, fever, anemia, and long-term complications if left untreated. While both conditions are manageable with early intervention, she’s facing a long road to recovery, one filled with medication, monitoring, and lots of loving care.

Poppy’s still just a puppy, with her whole life ahead of her. She's shown us she's a fighter, but she can't do this alone. We’re committed to giving her every chance to heal fully and live the life she deserves, one filled with safety, love, and play.

We’re asking for your support to help cover the cost of Poppy’s surgery and ongoing treatment. Every donation brings us closer to giving her the pain-free, joy-filled life she deserves. She’s already endured so much, and with your help, her future can be full of hope.

Update 10/13/25
Poppy’s leg was saved! They were able to get her to an orthopedic specialist who was able to reconstruct her leg internally with hardware. Following the surgery, she had to be on mobility restrictions, but only needed a pressure bandage. Throughout the entire process, she maintained her sweet demeanor. Thank you for helping save her leg!
