Poppy is my Great Dane that I bought two years ago from a local breeder when she was only 4 weeks old. I have always loved the breed and when I laid eyes on her I knew I had to have her. She is two years old and lives with me and my two daughters and my husband. She is the only dog in the house and sleeps by my bed every night or in my oldest (5) daughters bed with her.

Poppy loves to sleep in bed with someone. Either she is squeezing her way in my bed or she is in bed with one of my kids. She loves snacks. Everytime she hears the refrigerator open she walks up and looks in like she is choosing what she wants. Poppy is a great tempered dog. She loves my kids and watches over them. She has never growled or barked at them the entire time she’s been with us.

Poppy loves to play with my mom’s cocker spaniel and her cat. She never meets a stranger! I struggle with anxiety and depression and she has comforted me and “hugged” me every single time I have ever cried or been upset. She loves to shake hands and play with squeaky toys. She will literally squeak the toy over and over until the squeaker breaks.

Poppy is fixed. She’s up to date on all of her shots. We had some financial problems arise and I was unable to afford her flea/heart guard pills at that time. At poppy’s most recent visit earlier this week, poppy was retested for heartworms so that she could continue prevention but she tested positive. Her vet plans on treating her over three months to get her heartworm free.

In July I lost my grandfather and was out of work a couple days. My husband and I then contracted covid. No work and no paycheck for two weeks. We are behind on every single bill and this heartworm treatment is going to run around $2,500. Poppy won’t live without this help.
