Poppy is a 4-year-old Miniature Dachshund in Windsor, ON, who needs $2,000 for blood work, an MRI, and back surgery.

Our Poppy is a 4 year old miniature dachshund who is the light of our family's life. We got Poppy when she was 12 weeks old as a friend for our Geoffrey who also a mini doxie when he was 3 years old. They are very attached. Geoffrey is very protective of his little sister, especially if there are other dogs around. If Poppy gets afraid, she hides behind him and although he is smaller, he guards her by taking a stand against any other dog or person, big or small, so that she is safe. Geoff is forlorn lately because Poppy is unable to walk or move without pain and he misses her so much. He whines to get into her crate so he can snuggle with her. We chose the name Poppy because we got her in November, which is when Canadians wear poppies to observe Remembrance Day in which we honour the memory and sacrifice of our soldiers. We have several family members who served and so we kind of honour them every day with our little Poppy.
