Our dog Prince, is a pedigree American Pitbull given to us five years ago at 10 weeks old from our cousin. He is not a breeding or fighting dog and isn't accustomed to anything of that nature. He is a lovable, playful member of our family. There are no other pets in our home. After 15 years of trying to conceive a child, we chose his name because he had become the baby of the house.

Prince usually sleeps in the bed with one of our teenage kids. He likes to walk/run to the dog park two blocks away from our home. He is the most playful dog and can usually turn anything into a toy. Fetching tennis balls wherever the family is enjoying pool time is his favorite game to play. He usually communicates by placing a paw on our leg, looking towards what he wants to let us know he needs

The fact that Prince showers us with love and happiness everytime we wake up or arrive home makes him most special to me. He will literally cry like a baby to come inside if we take to long to let him in upon our arrival. He is terrified of thunder and lightning and absolutely hates frogs. Prince loves watching football with the family and cheers for our favorite teams right along with us.

He bolted out the door and sustained a broken right hind leg after being hit by a car. His leg is broken in several areas and is in a hard splint. I went into surgery two days later and spent two weeks in the hospital. Prince stayed with a friend and managed to lick his foot raw after stepping on a nail. The friend taped a sock onto the foot. When he came home I removed the sock and saw maggots.

My family and I are on a fixed income and receive government food and medical assistance. Due to my spouse's disabil and my untimely and unexpected surgery and medical leave, we are several months behind on all of our bills and cannot afford afford further medical care for Prince
