Pu`uwai Ho`ola is a 11 year old Italian Greyhound in Kailua, HI, who needs $2,000 for Surgical Mass Removal with Anesthesia, Hospitalization, Etc..

I adopted Pu`uwai Ho`ola (Hawaiian for "healing heart") 7 yrs ago from the Hawaiian Humane Society after I lost my previous dog 1-1/2 yrs before. Pu`u had been abandoned by her previous owners & was heartworm positive but I adopted her, had her spayed, & nursed her back to health after heartworm treatment. She has been living happily with my Devon Rex cat, Anuenue, & me ever since!

Pu`u had acquired some lumps on her body but nothing looked alarming until her most recent check-up. The vet tested a suspicious one it & it came back as cancerous Mast Cell Tumor. I was able to get an urgent consultation with surgeon Dr. Nate Lam @ VCA Family & Oahu Veterinary Specialty Center & he is pretty confident he can get the lump & the nearby lymph nodes (prayerfully w/ clear margins).

Even though I adopted Pu`u as a "senior" dog, she has so much energy & spunk! She is a happy & very sweet dog. Everyone (2- or 4-legged) who come into contact with her comments on how sweet & friendly she is. She & my cat are besties-playing, sleeping & rough housing together & she has endeared herself to my new BF as well. She loves to run, play w/ her many toys, cuddle, go on car rides & sleep!

I was on temp disability for several months due to a health issue of my own so I don't have a lot of reserves stored up. But Pu`u is too healthy otherwise & is too previous to us to consider her a lost cause. I don't want money to be the reason her happy life is cut short.
