About this campaign
Pumpkin came into my life unexpectedly in 2013 when we met at Atlanta Pride. He and his litter had been saved from a storm drain, and he was the first of them to be cleared of heartworms and ready for adoption. The moment I first held him, he fell asleep in my arms, and I knew he was mine. He lives with me, my wife, & our best friend along with 3 other cats and one ferret who is on palliative care
Pumpkin developed sudden weight loss, lethargy, and loss of appetite and an ultrasound confirmed stomach cancer. He was referred to BluePearl Animal Hospital for oncology care, with an ultrasound-guided biopsy scheduled for 2/5/25, and required an emergency visit on 1/31 for acute symptoms. Once his type of cancer is confirmed (they think lymphoma) he will need chemotherapy.
Pumpkin is a deeply loved member of our family and has an incredibly strong bond with us. He experiences separation anxiety when we are away and thrives on closeness and routine. Every night, he sleeps on his own special pillow on our bed and loves to cuddle with us under the blankets, finding comfort in being near us. He is a constant source of love, compassion, and mischief in our home.
Pumpkin has pet insurance, but it won’t cover everything and it also takes time to be approved for reimbursement. We have limited funds to pay for his treatment to the vet upfront, and his unexpected emergency visit has cost $1700, leaving us $700 short for his biopsy.
