About this campaign
It was a heartbreaking sight when this sweet, orange cat was limping towards the doorstep of a house. His poor paws were in terrible, raw and painful condition.
Knowing that he needed immediate help, the rescuer quickly sent out an urgent message to us at One by One Animal Advocates seeking help..
When we took him to the vet, they found that he had been severely anemic. They were initially stumped; A chemical burn seemed likely at first since all four paws were affected as well as his abdomen and tail.
Pushpop was too anemic and far too fragile for sedation. But it became clear that hospitalization on fluids was necessary to inspect his condition properly.
Bloodwork was needed daily to monitor his condition and progress. The vet team diagnosed him with severe Pillow Foot, a mass on one paw, and ulcers in his mouth.
This is also known as Feline plasma cell pododermatitis. It is a condition in which severe inflammation develops on the foot pads. Pododermatitis occurs when the immune system is mistakenly triggered and it overproduces lymphocytes
With medication for Pillow foot, he has now become more stable. He will soon be ready for the next steps towards recovery: an operation to remove the mass on one paw, as well as histopathology to exam the mass tissues under a microscope.
But that wasn't all - it seemed Pushpop also required every single one of his teeth pulled out in order to treat stomatitis, causing ulcers in his mouth.
Despite his obvious pain, he’s an absolute trooper and very loving. With just a bit of help towards Pushpop's medical care, we can make sure that we never have to say no to an animal in need! Can you help us get this sweet, senior the care he deserves?
