About this campaign
I first got Quimby when he was a tiny kitten at only 2 months old in 2006. I was in college, had just moved on my own, and a coworker at the time said she was going to pick out a kitten from a litter in W Philly. I hadn't planned on adopting Quimby, but as soon as I met him, I knew he was coming home with me and here we are 15 years later!
Quimby is 15 years old, so hes pretty mellow and quiet. As a kitten he was a mouthy whirlwind of commotion. He knows the sound of my alarm clock and the sound of a tuna an opening and will come running over at the sound of either. He's also been known to "talk" like a human saying "hello" or "mama".
Quimby does not like closed doors of any kind. I cannot shut the bathroom door or he will whine and cry til I open it. He isnt too much into toys anymore but every now and then he'll get a burst of energy and kick around one of the toys I have for him and his baby brother Kinsey. 'very protective over Kinsey, grooming him and cuddling with him to take naps
Quimby has always been a bigger cat, and in his older age has developed diabetes. I give him insulin twice a day and he'd been doing great. Today, however he experienced a seizure, possibly from low glucose levels. He is currently being treated and monitored at Washington Ave Pet Hospital, and tomorrow our options will be gone over.
I know everyone is struggling. My work has been understaffed and less busy, which isn't good for me since I rely on tips as majority of income. I recently had to move, which drained my bank savings and last week I missed 5 days of work due to Covid, so money is very tight
