About this campaign

I picked Radley out of a high kill shelter when he was 5 months old. He had to compete with lots of new kittens, but I knew the moment I saw him (tearing up a cat tree with a naughty glint in his eye) that he was mine. We've been together for 11 years, through two cross-country moves and ups and downs. I work from home, so he gets to be my lap cat 24/7. Until he got sick he purred constantly.

Radley's always been rambunctious, naughty, very expressive. It took a couple years for him to really settle in and start to love snuggles, but now he never leaves my side. He and his "brother," Rupert, have their favorite places on the bed. He loves treats, catnip, and, most of all, rotisserie chicken. He and I can read each other's facial expressions so well. I can't describe how much I love him

Radley is a talker and is able to draw out a long meow to let you know if he is bored or displeased. He has always had a strong psychological attachment to food and will wake me at 4 am (by knocking something over) to inform me the bowl is empty, watch me open a can of cat food, then walk away—he just needs to know the food is available (from in his homeless life before the shelter?).

Radley started having seizures a month ago. Our vet treated it as epilepsy, but I knew in my heart something was really off. I took him to a neurologist, who immediately sent us to cardiology—turns out he has an AV block in his heart that cuts off oxygen to his brain and causes seizure-like episodes. He needs a pacemaker, and very soon, or his deteriorating condition will require euthanasia.

Pacemaker surgery is $7-$9,000. We had a rough year with several unexpected financial blows (including thousands to diagnose this) and don't have anywhere close to this. There's a miracle cure to make him my happy healthy boy again and I don't know how we can make it happen
