Rainbow is a 11-year-old Long-Haired Miniature Dachshund in Hendersonville, NC, who needs $1,876 for Dental Cleaning, Tooth Extractions, & Tumor Removal.

I had tried to adopt a Dachshund through several rescue groups, but they required a fenced-in yard, which I didn't have. Then I saw an advertisement for a Long-Haired Miniature Dachshund puppy for $300. I immediately called, met the lady, fell in love with the 3-month-old female puppy, then took her home. She currently lives in a house with a cat and they love each other.

She gets taken outside to go potty every 3 hours and gets fed a prescription diet food. Throughout the day, I give her low-calorie soft treats. She loves most people and will bark at them until they pet her. If they stop loving on her too soon, she will bark again for more. I started brushing her teeth at age 4 months and she loved it, mainly because of the poultry-flavored toothpaste.

Rainbow is very special because she has always given me the companionship and unconditional love that I have needed through many hard times. I definitely can't sleep without her lying against my back in bed. She loves to ride and I take her almost everywhere with me. She is registered as my Psychiatric Service Dog because, without her, I wouldn't be alive right now.

For many years, I worked in Veterinary offices and was financially able to get Rainbow everything she needed to stay healthy. She needed and got her teeth cleaned and 1 extraction at Banfield Animal Hospital by Dr.Alexandra Gautille. In 2021, she needed to get her teeth cleaned again, as well as 5 extractions which were done at West Asheville Family Vet by Dr. Cindy Exelby.

In 2022, I was an In-Home Caregiver and my patient passed away. After that, I had trouble finding jobs and my car needed a lot of repairs. I barely made enough to survive and now Rainbow has several extractions, teeth cleaning, and a tumor removal from her chest. She is 11.
