About this campaign

When This Is Houston found Ralph wandering the streets, he was in critical condition. This sweet dog had been suffering alone with a horrific injury to his hind leg — an injury consistent with being hit by a car. The tissue damage was so severe, and so old, that there was no way to save the limb. Ralph had been trying to survive on three legs long before help arrived.

Ralph was rushed straight to the emergency vet. The moment he arrived, it was clear he needed immediate surgery to end his pain. His damaged leg was amputated, and although the surgery saved his life, the road that followed was far from easy. After surgery, Ralph faced complications.
He developed fluid buildup, refused to eat, and struggled with the pain and trauma of everything he had endured.

He had to remain hospitalized for several days so the veterinary team could monitor and treat the fluid accumulation, provide IV fluids, manage his pain and nausea, run bloodwork, take X-rays, and ensure he was stable enough to stand, heal, and finally begin his new start at life. Despite everything he’s been through, Ralph is gentle, resilient, and determined.

But the emergency surgery, hospitalization, diagnostics, and round-the-clock care come with a very large medical bill — one the rescue cannot shoulder alone. Please donate to Ralph’s care. Your support gives him the second chance he fought so hard to survive for.
