About this campaign
Ravi, lovingly known as Ravioli, came to me after being removed from an abuse/neglect situation by the humane officer 5 1/2 years ago. She sent me his picture, and when I saw him wide-eyed and terrified, I was in love. I told her not to bring him to the shelter I managed at the time because he’d end up coming home with me.
Sure enough, she brought him in. Sure enough, he came home with me.
His first night home, Ravi shook in fear while I fed him hotdog. Quickly he took to his pittie brother and sister and learned what kisses and snuggles are. As I fostered more and more terrified pups like him, he did a great job bringing them out of their shells. Ravi loves his car rides, sticks, and most of all, his kisses and snuggles. Every night, he sleeps cuddled up under the covers with me.
I love my Ravi, but he isn’t exactly a Rhodes Scholar. His nickname is Big Dum-Dum, and I sometimes (lovingly) joke that there’s nothing but elevator music going on in his head. He makes up for it with sweetness, though. Ravi is the biggest mama’s boy who ever mama’s boyed, and I couldn’t love him more.
Ravi is 7 years old, just a baby. When I saw that his lymph nodes were swelling, I became concerned. They got worse, so I took him to Dr Shaw at Grand Canyon Vet. She confirmed my fears that lymphoma is most likely and gave an estimate for diagnostics to find out where to go from here. The estimate for diagnostics alone was over $1,000. I would die for my baby boy, but I can’t make money appear.
A few years ago, I was working full time - ironically, running an animal shelter. But several injuries, five surgeries, and several other issues have left me unable to work full-time anymore. I’m in the process of applying for disability, but it’s a slow, difficult one.
