About this campaign
Reina has been a member of our family for 11 years now. Reina means Queen and our daughter named her. She is our beloved companion and fierce and loyal defender. At the age of 10 Reina fought off a bear that was following us and then began to run towards me when we faced her. Reina got pretty scratched up, but the Vet Hospital in Deerfield recognized her bravery and today she is our family hero.
Reina has not been feeling well and after much testing at the Westbrook Animal Hospital in Pelham, MA found that she had a urinary tract infection and strong indications of Cushings Disease. We hope to be able to confirm and treat her as she is still a lively dog and can live for a few more years with the right health care.
Reina sleeps in bed with us and loves to take walks, play with the grandkids and enjoys getting petted and adored by all our neighbors. She loves to bask in the sun on our porch and enjoys playing with my sister’s dog Toby. She has known him since he was a pup when I rescued him down south.
We live on a fixed income which is below the federal poverty threshold. The total cost of testing is approximately 1700 and this does not include the monthly medication she will need. This disease will require ongoing treatment and any support will be profoundly appreciated.
