About this campaign
I adopted Rex from my local city animal shelter, where he had been picked up as a stray. I don't know anything about his life prior to being picked up by the city. It was love at first site for the two of us. I am disabled and Rex is my service dog. Rex goes everywhere with me, including a trip to the Grand Canyon and a train trip to Illinois to visit family.
Rex is my service dog, and he travels everywhere with me. He loves going for car rides, where he watches for other animals. Rex loves it when his grandmother comes to visit, but wishes she could come more often. Rex has recently started helping me with fostering cats and dogs from the Animal Humane Society. He loves visiting my friends, and has missed them terribly while social distancing.
I am disabled and on disability. I have a very little amount of fixed income every month. It allows me to take care of Rex's regular needs, but doesn't allow for any big expenses.
Rex has been diagnosed with Distichia, ehich is a condition where eyelashes grow where they shouldn't be. The eyelashes then rub at his eyes, which could cause ulcers to form on the eye and blindness. Rex needs to have a procedure done that would permanently prevent those eyelashes from growing back. He was seen by a specialist at my local VCA hospital, who recommended having the procedure done.
Rex is the center of my whole world. He takes wonderful care of me when I am sick. He hardly leaves my side when I'm sick. Rex always makes me laugh when we are playing, because he tries to hoard as many toys as possible. When he thinks he has enough, he looks at me with this big grin and his polka-dot tongue sticking out, so pleased with himself.
