Rex is a 7 year old German Shepherd Dog in Toronto, ON, who needs $6,905 for Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy, TPLO.

Rex came into my life in late September 2022. He became available at The Oakville/Milton Humane Society where he became an available foster since the previous fosters were leaving the country and no one wished to foster or adopt him because he was dog reactive.. I fell in l love with him, fostered and adopted him. He loved both my husband and myself and has been the second love my life

On April12/26 Rex was running in the yard along fence line, saw another dog and hurt his back right hind leg. Couldn't put any pressure on it and was limping Took him to VEG ER , had x-rays done where they suspected a Cruciate ligament tear. Referred to VEC Hospital in West Toronto . Surgeon confirmed Crania Cruciate ligament rupture. Needs immediate surgery to repair so he can walk.

Rex is special because he is all that I have left of my husband who passed away in late 2024 after only 5 years. Together with my husband & REX my life was full of love and joy. Rex is my companion, protector, lifeline & keeps me sane and grounded. He loves his squeaky & rope toys, his dentabones, is a very vocal talker, loves rolling in the grass and snow on his back and howls at firetrucks

Husband died suddenly. Catastrophic family expenses & me having to carry the financial burden with no emergency fund & no family to help. It would bring me immense joy to have REX walking & playing again without limping since he is my four legged child who I love dearly.
