About this campaign
Rhea and I and her sister Ravyn have all been together since Rhea was 7 weeks old. She was my Christmas gift to me, as I got her 3 days before Christmas. All 3 of us are very close, in fact, Rhea and Ravyn are my best friends. We have been through 2 relocations due to financial hardship and unemployment (presently) and have been the reason for me to push through in my darkest times.
Rhea has limped for years now due to her arthritic front legs, and 2 months ago she jumped out of the backseat of my truck, landed and immediately dropped to the ground, crying out in obvious pain. Result: 2 cruciate ligament injuries. Combined, all symptoms severely inhibit her movement.
Double J Animal Hospital of Hobbs, NM has been helping me with her with a diagnosis and treatment plan.
In all of my years of pet ownership, I've never had a more stubborn, sassy, charismatic character in an animal. Rhea challenges me at most every turn, be it ignoring me to come inside when I call, slapping my hand away when she doesn't want cuddles or continuously shoving her toy in my lap because she wants to play with her favorite toy George (a laser pointer)
3 years ago, I lost my dog of 10 years unexpectedly. This is where Ravyn and Rhea enter, they have kept me fighting for this long, and despite having pet insurance, I am unable to afford the medical attention she needs to live a long, healthy and happy dog life.
