About this campaign
Just a few weeks ago, we opened our home and our hearts to Rico, a gentle 6-year-old Mastiff who deserved a fresh start. We thought we were rescuing a dog who simply needed a loving family. Instead, we learned that Rico has significant heart disease and is already showing signs of congestive heart failure.
Since adopting him, we’ve already spent more than $1,000 on veterinary visits, testing, and diagnostics just to understand what was wrong. A cardiologist now says the next critical step is a specialized echocardiogram costing approximately $1,200. That test will determine the severity of his disease and allow doctors to create the best treatment plan to give him the longest & best life possible.
We never imagined facing these expenses so soon after adopting him, but giving up on him isn’t an option. He has already been through enough, and every day he shows us just how grateful he is to finally have a family. He is our big boy and we want to make sure whatever time left is not spent in a shelter.
We’re asking for help so that finances don’t determine whether Rico gets the care he needs. Every donation will go to:
- Echocardiogram
- Cardiology appointments
- Heart medications
- Ongoing treatment and monitoring
If you’re unable to donate, please share Rico’s story.
