About this campaign

Riley is my fourth Irish setter. I’ve had setters since I was 18 and love their demeanor and silliness. They are great friends and very loving. Riley is quick to take a hike, swim or settle in for movie night. Riley and I share an apartment. We depend on each other for everything. He often accompanies me on car rides and trail walks.

Riley is nine years old. My husband and I drove from South Florida to Chipley, Florida, spent the night and met him the next day. He was the last of his litter and four months old. He bonded with me instantly and became fast friends with our cat. I immediately enrolled him in obedience training and day camp to socialize him. He became a regular on out frequent walks and trips to the dog park.

Riley is special to me because a year after he came into my life, my husband died. He became my only companion and made a move with me from Florida to New Hampshire. He is a fried to my neighbors who bring him treats of biscuits or carrots (his favorite). He made fast friends with my friend’s golden and they hiked with us often.

Riley was recently diagnosed with Cushing’s disease. I am a disabled senior on a fixed income living in subsidized housing. I simply can’t afford his and my medical care. When I first got him, I was part of a two income household with medical insurance. I take Riley to PetSmart Banfield Hospital and have a wellness plan to cover his shots and two yearly visits.

I live alone in subsidized housing and depend on social security disability. I just can’t imagine my life without Riley or to have him suffer. Dr. Kennedy said Riley needed another $400 test and medication. I just cannot afford it.
