Rio is a 1-year-old Mutt in Edinburg, TX, who needs $500 for Mange, Flea, Heartworm, Ringworm, Stomach Parasite Treatment.

My parent is a CNA who regularly checks up on fixed income patients and these dogs happen to walk on this individual's property. There are about four dogs total but only this one approaches them close enough to capture photos.

In South Texas it is reaching over 100° every day and this dog sleeps underneath the trailer of this individual, it has a lot of fleas ticks and probably heartworm and other invisible illnesses that can't be remedied with food & water alone. The property owner has a big heart and tries to feed but with their limited mobility it's impossible to give the animal full treatment.

I'm volunteering this information because my parent and I have the capability to take the dog to a vet and hopefully get it into foster home in the future. We have too many animals of our own and cannot afford to take care of every single stray. But in good conscience we cannot stand back and do nothing either.

The last dog we took to our local vet had mange, heartworm, and ringworm and they have been successfully treated and have made a full recovery. This is an unaltered male, we're hoping to also have him neutered in the future at a low cost spay and neuter clinic.

The patient is disabled and on fixed income and unable to drive. I can provide transportation to and from the vet. This dog is emaciated, no amount of food can outpace the hookworms in this poor dog, we are trying to intervene, but it's not financially feasible.
