Early Spring 2012 I was at a kite festival sitting on a blanket a pup appeared and laid down next to me plopping his head onto my lap.
His name was Rocco and was abandoned at a neighbor’s apt who had brought him to the festival. The neighbor had a lot on his plate so was considering taking Rocco to a shelter. Heartbreaking for any animal, but this was love at first sight. He’s coming home with me.

He told me he’s sleeping with me, wakes me by staring at me. If I get busy with something he stares…Mind meld is the name of his game. Housetraining was a breeze. A bell by the door was an instant success. One day a neighbor complained. Rocco logic: if it got him out it would get me in. Our favorite park has hiking trails, a stream where dogs play. All sticks belong to him and none can outswim him

Rocco is a great sidekick up for anything Except wet feet Rain’s not bothersome; puddles are hot lava. Kicks me out if I get my keys. I return and he boogies to find a favorite toy which change (fickle). The latest was a green frog, Javier. Speaking of; he’s obsessed with toads. He digs in his feet with all his might, stretching his body to near lying on his belly determined to get one. Hilarious!

I was injured bedridden 2.5yrs ago heartbreaking seeing how much he (we) was missing out on then Aug I saw a change in his personality and energy. Our veterinarian did a blood panel, his liver count is frighteningly above normal. She said if we can find the cause soon enough there’s chance she can fix it. If it not, at least I can make an informed decision. $450 ultrasound is needed

SSDI is less than half of what I earned and rent increased by $100. My mom (late stage dementia) moved in Rocco’s quality of life was awful devotedly sitting by me 2.5yrs I’m inconsolable to fail him to needlessly lose him to not make up for the boogies he’s missed He’s the love of my life
