Rocco is an 11-year-old Lhasa Apso-Tibetan Terrier Mix in Watertown, MA, who needs $1,500 for surgery.

Rocco is a shelter rescue I found in Nebraska years ago. They had seen in him a wonderful disposition at the kill shelter he was in. I saw him and knew he was right for me. I got Rocco to help my first dog, as he battled Alzheimers. He is what the household is all about, as he watches for passers by or my car, through the front window. He loves his home, his yard and his neighbor dogs too.

My dog is always with me, since his first day. I take him everywhere I can. I am single, so Rocco is my furry son, who is doted on and spoiled-as he should be. In return, I get his unconditional love, squeaker toys at my feet, and the constant reminder that there is a treat bin. There is nothing like his love of squirrels-he truly is dedicated to watching and chasing them. Hilarious.

I believe that when Rocco looks at me at times he is conveying love. He has such soulful eyes. It balances his playful, attention getting side. He has taught me patience, through his observance of his surroundings. Rocco definitely demands attention, especially at bedtime, when he sits, patiently for me to retire. His look melts my heart and you can't not ignore "bedtime". I get more sleep!

Rocco has tumor on his eyelid. It's been there sometime--thinking it was a cyst, as it didn't get bigger. It was bleeding, not changing. The eye specialist, Dr. Cottrill, at Mass Veterinary Referral Center will debulk and remove the tumor-and hopefully it will not recur. It must be removed as it is likely malignant. I am lucky to have such amazing people caring for Rocco.

I just started a new job, after being laid off during COVID and really don't have enough funds right now to cover his surgical cost, after his initial visits, testing and bloodwork. This can't really wait any longer--I want Rocco around for many more years.
