About this campaign
Rocky was hit by a car on a busy street, and ricocheted off the vehicle following behind him. Two strangers quickly acted to save his life. One blocked traffic to ensure Rocky's safety, while another spent $1000 out of pocket to pay for his emergency medical care.
Miraculously and much to everyone’s relief, nothing was broken, but confused because Rocky couldn't hold himself upright and would repeatedly topple over.
Through further diagnostics it was discovered that Rocky's front leg was horrifically hyperextended backwards all the way to the top of his back. It became apparent that it had suffered an excruciating Brachial Plexus Avulsion, which meant that the nerve in his leg had been ripped away from the spinal cord.
In this case, the damage done was far worse than just a rupture – it caused severe pain and inevitable death of the limb. After assessing Rocky’s condition, everyone's heart sank as they heard the prognosis: amputation was necessary.
The one girl was crying at the vet, exhausted after bringing Rocky all this way only to be faced with financial euthanasia - but then something amazing happened! A third stranger offered to pay the overnight boarding fees, giving them another chance to find a solution.
"We were asked if we would be Rocky’s miracle. If we pay for Rocky’s amputation, it will save his life." Heather Founder of One by One Animal Advocates tells Waggle. "It was a miracle that a third stranger intervened and then contacted us."
All he needed was an amputation to be able to continue living life as the happy and healthy pup he deserves to be. The estimate for surgery is $1377. Angels have already intervened on Rocky’s behalf, but he needs more.
