About this campaign
Rocky was given to me during my senior year of high school by my father. He was the last puppy in the litter to need adopting. We spent as much time as we could together before I headed to college. While I was away, he continued to live with my parents. They would bring him to visit me on weekends and I would come home every break I could. Our separation was just as hard on him as it was for me.
Rocky loves fiercely and works hard to protect his family. When he's not playing, he loves to cuddle with you on the bed. On the days that his dad has to go on his 24-hour firefighter shift, Rocky spends time with his grandpa, sleeping during conference calls and telling his grandpa when it's time to play outside.
Rocky is an avid ballplayer like me. A jar of tennis balls is kept stocked in our home. He spends countless hours chasing balls. He "talks" to you if you aren't paying attention to the ball he dropped in our lap. He is affectionate and his morning routine includes giving you a kiss. He is passionate about visitors and does not like them to leave.
Rocky was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. He will need chemotherapy treatment for 4 months. The cost of each monthly treatment will cost $1814. We are hoping with these treatments he can go into remission. The oncologist and Dr. Stein at Austin Veterinary Emergency & Speciality have set up a treatment plan for Rocky.
I recently began my profession as firefighter in March after spending five months in an internship. I love my career but there are times when the role of a firefighter can be physically and emotionally demanding. Coming home to Rocky is the thing I look forward to the most.
