Roxanne is a 6-year-old American Pitbull Terrier in Canton, OH, who needs $600 for scans and additional bloodwork and testing .

Roxanne joined our family 6 years ago, at the age of 4 months old. She was rescued from a home that kept her exclusively in a crate. She was ill, severely underweight and malnourished, small for her age, and had never been outside. We brought her into our home to save her, and she has been inseparable from our other dog and my son since. She even escaped a domestic violence situation with us.

Roxanne sleeps right next to moms bed every night, and sometimes sneaks into our other dogs bed to cuddle. She loves sitting and gazing out the storm door, and stealing every sunny spot she can find from our other pets. She doesn’t play with toys, but will steal and hide all of them. She loves wrestling and running around the yard with our other dog, and has the most adorable sideways gallop.

Our family recently escaped a domestic violence situation, and we took a big hit financially. As a single mother, income is very limited. Roxanne is a staple to our chaotic family and losing her would be devastating to all of us, especially my son.

Roxanne became very ill a few days ago. She stopped eating and began vomiting and having bloody stools. A visit to Turkeyfoot Family Pet Center told us she had a GI bleed somewhere, possibly caused by an ulcer or a blockage. Scans and tests are needed to diagnose, as well as the possibility of surgery. Unable to afford the tests, we were sent home with a couple medications and crossed fingers.

Roxanne follows Mom anywhere she goes, and stands guard while she’s in the shower. She loves the cat, even when she wants nothing to do with her. She poses for pictures, and even lets us dress her up with hats from time to time. She’s very vocal, and does a great job warning us of every car, person, squirrel, and floating leaf that comes past her favorite window.
