Help Ru and Paul Grow Up Strong

About this campaign

Paul & Ru should be crazy teenage kittens by now, chasing toys, climbing furniture, and getting into harmless trouble. Instead, when they arrived from animal control, they were barely clinging to life.

At six months old, they should each weigh about six pounds. Paul & Ru weigh under three each.

They are so tiny, so weak, and malnourished that their adult teeth were the only sign of their real age. Their little bodies were fighting severe upper and lower respiratory infections, leaving them exhausted from just trying to breathe.

💔 It’s hard to describe just how filthy they were. Their tails, ears, and feet were coated in thick, black, greasy layers of neglect that came off in chunks.

For days, Paul and Ru were too sick to lift their little heads, let alone walk around. They were terrified and unsure of what human touch meant, yet they allowed us to give them the gentle care they desperately needed. They were accepting syringe feeding, a sign they began to trust us.

As they stabilize and begin eating on their own, we’re hoping they will be well enough for a soft bath to finally wash away all that they have endured. Beneath the grime and illness, Paul and Ru are emerging as mellow, sweet babies who just want comfort.

But they are still fragile as they fight to recover. They are still depending on us and we depend on generous donors like you.

With our Medical Fund stretched so thin from emergency medical rescues, Paul and Ru remind us yet again how desperately these cats need us and how vital this fund is to being able to say YES to every animal brought to our door.

Your support gives them the warmth, safety, medication, and time they need to grow into the healthy young cats they were meant to be.

3/18/26 Update

RBARI is happy to share that these cuties are healing, slowly but surely. Their infections are beginning to clear, and they are putting on some much-needed weight.

These adorably sweet kittens are still receiving supportive care as they regain strength. They would love to find them a foster home where Paul & Ru can continue healing together, as foster homes make such a tremendous difference in the recovery of fragile kittens.

6/23/26 Update

Thanks to the care and support from all of you, Ru and Paul have fully healed and recovered. They have been adopted, and we are so grateful they get to spend the rest of their days in their forever home together!
