About this campaign
I adopted Ruby when she was 8 yrs old, she was given up by the family she had her whole life. She was listed at the shelter as an emergency in needing a home right away or face euthanasia. I looked at her sweet face and couldn't let that happen. Ruby is my rock in recovery, she keeps me grounded in what's really important: being in the moment with gratitude...that and treats!
Ruby's been very healthy for the most part. At nearly 12, she takes meds for arthritis & needed a few teeth pulled at her first cleaning ever. I took Ruby to Raintree Vet Center recently for a fast growing lump on her rear, near her vulva. The vet said it's much bigger than we see, as it goes pretty deep & needs to be removed ASAP, before she turns 12 in Dec, when anesthesia is too risky
Ruby is the absolute sweetest girl ever. Some people are fearful of breeds like hers but Ruby instantly changed their minds. She is an absolute couch potato & the best snuggler in bed, a gentle giant. Ruby's pretty protective of my daughter, often putting herself between Lexi & a stranger or maybe she's just hoping to get any & all potential treats, either way Ruby is loved by everyone she meets
I'm a single working mom, formerly homeless & in recovery. I work for a nonprofit that advocates for our unhoused neighbors, so I don't make a lot. I don't know if I can save enough for Ruby to have this surgery by Dec & still pay all our other bills
