Ruby is a 6-year-old in Everett, WA, who needs $2,000 for Abdominal Hernia Repair.

Ruby is our newest addition to our family. To the best of our knowledge, Ruby was born on 8/27/21 and was the runt of the litter. We adopted her on 3/2/22 from a family who was no longer able to care for her. She has lived in three homes so far (that we know) and we are making her third home the “charm.” She is making herself right at home in our apartment in Everett and has a sister cat, Ponicz.

When we adopted Ruby, she had a “wet” cough that is now almost gone. She has been eating well and has a healthy digestive system to match. She is learning quickly to use puppy pads for the potty and hardly ever barks or yelps! She is so perfect and precious and is most definitely a lap dog. Ruby will start leash training as soon as she gets the “ok” from the vet.

Ruby is special because she reminded me of my old family dog, Daisy, who was also a Beagle. I knew Ruby was special when I first saw her and took every step necessary to bring her home. She is a lover and gives love (cuddles and kisses) to everyone she meets. She was raised by cats and believes she is one. I’ve never seen a puppy climb furniture the way Ruby does! She’s a little acrobat!

On 3/10/22, Ruby saw our vet, Dr. Guillen at Northwest Animal Hospital in Everett and we received the worst news possible as new dog owners. Ruby was diagnosed with an abdominal hernia. The hole in her abdominal wall is causing her liver and parts of her GI track to pushed up into her abdominal cavity. Ruby is stable now and living her best puppy life, but surgery is required to sustain her life.

Ruby’s operation is an unexpected financial burden on my partner and I. We are a young couple, beginning our careers, and I am still in school. Ruby is the one who truly made what we (my partner and I) have a family and we are going to FIGHT to keep this family together.
