About this campaign
While families were gathering and homes were filling with warmth on Christmas Eve, Rudy was alone.
He wandered the streets scared and hurting, carrying an injury no dog should ever have to endure. At some point, Rudy’s back leg was traumatically amputated, and his little body did its best to survive on its own. The wound had begun to heal without medical care. His fur was painfully matted and soaked with urine — silent proof of how long he had been forgotten. Rudy didn’t cry out. He just kept going.
When Rudy came into our care, he was rushed to the ER. Pain medication was started immediately, and his matted fur was gently shaved away so he could finally feel some relief. Because his injury is older, Rudy underwent surgery to have the rest of his damaged leg properly amputated — the final step before true healing can begin.
Through it all, Rudy has remained unbelievably sweet. He leans into gentle hands. He trusts. He loves. This Christmas, instead of sleeping on the cold streets, Rudy is curled up safely in a warm foster home, finally knowing what comfort feels like.
Rudy survived because someone stopped. Because someone cared. Because help arrived just in time.
His journey isn’t over yet — and he needs us now more than ever. Every donation made today goes directly toward Rudy’s surgery, medical care, and recovery, and ensures that dogs like him won’t have to suffer alone. If you’re able, please consider making a year-end gift in Rudy’s honor. Your kindness gives him the chance to heal, to run again in his own way, and to know a life filled with love.
💛 Rudy’s second chance starts with you.
2/12/26 Update
After coming into our care, Rudy underwent surgery to properly amputate the remainder of his damaged leg, along with being neutered. We’re happy to share that he has fully recovered from both procedures and is feeling fantastic.
He is officially out of quarantine and in general population in his foster home, where he’s settling in beautifully with the other dogs. And let us tell you — this boy is thriving. Rudy is a one-year-old, 20-pound bundle of love. He is snuggly, playful, and absolutely full of personality. He leans into affection, seeks out cuddles, and plays with the confidence of a dog who has decided the world might actually be a good place after all.
Next up for Rudy is heartworm treatment, which he’ll be starting soon. We’re committed to seeing him through every step so he can be as healthy as possible for his future. And speaking of his future… Rudy already has an adoption application submitted and should be heading into an adoption trial very soon.
From a lonely Christmas Eve on the streets to a warm foster home filled with comfort, friends, and love — Rudy’s transformation has been incredible. He doesn’t let having three legs slow him down one bit. He runs, plays, and lives fully, just like he was always meant to.
While Rudy is doing wonderfully, his medical care — including surgery, hospitalization, and upcoming heartworm treatment — has come at a significant cost. If you’re able, please consider making a donation to help cover Rudy’s remaining medical expenses and to ensure we can say “yes” to the next injured dog who needs us.
Your support makes stories like Rudy’s possible. Because of you, he didn’t just survive — he healed. And now, he’s on the brink of finding his forever family.
