About this campaign

When a kind-hearted Good Samaritan went to feed a small colony of community cats, they never expected to meet Rufus. Unlike the others, Rufus didn’t shy away—he walked right up to them, purring and pressing his head into their hands, desperate for love.

But what broke their heart even more was how badly he was suffering.

Rufus was skin and bones, so frail and thin it was a wonder he could stand. His fur was matted and dirty from struggling to survive outdoors. But the most shocking of all were his eyes—so red, swollen, and infected they were barely open. It’s a miracle he could see anything at all. Despite it all, Rufus was unbelievably sweet—rubbing against legs, asking for pets, trusting humans.

Pumpkin’s Rescue Club took him into their care. After seeing his condition, they immediately took him to the vet where he is now hospitalized and receiving intensive care. He’s being treated for malnutrition, dehydration, and painful eye infections.

Pumpkin’s Rescue Club is a small rescue that helps cats like Rufus receive the care and love they need to get their second chance. Please consider donating to help them cover the cost of Rufus's treatment.

Update 8/14/25

Rufus is doing great in foster care. He has energy to play and loves attention. He goes back to the vet soon for more bloodwork and to re-evaluate his eyes.
