About this campaign
Hello! Rufus came into our lives 3 years ago.. he is the love of our lives, best buddy to our 11 year old son Liam and unofficial service dog to my Disabled Combat Veteran husband.
He has a calm demeanor, likes to sit and chill, but when playing with his little brother Sully, can be quite rambunctious and does zoomies like crazy.
Rufus loved his humans. He calms the big human that struggles with PTSD. He keeps the little human in stitches because you never know what to expect from him. He’s a great snuggler, will follow you around waiting for you to drop your food, or he will run like heck in the yard to try to escape. He is a joy to our family.
Rufus is happy go lucky, with a quiet demeanor. He has barked once in three years. He is the quiet, reserved, goofball with the wiggly butt. He has the capacity to bring about a sense of calm without even knowing it. His gentle snores while on the couch can lull you to sleep.
Rufus has had a sudden paralysis of his hind legs. When I arrived home to take him out, he could not move his hind legs at all. We took him to Pallone Vet Clinic where he is, and has been being treated with steroids, anti inflammatories, electrical stimulation and pain meds. His xray revealed a compressed disc. He is being referred for a CT scan and possible surgery.
As a family of a Disabled Combat Veteran, we are on a fixed income. Rufus is the heart of the house, the one that brings calm and joy. His overnight stay at the Vet has already reached almost $2000 and for a CT scan and surgery, we already can not afford those.
