Ruger is a 4 year old Mix-Breed in Union, KY, who needs $1,500 for Apoquel and Prescription Dog Food.

This is Ruger and he is 4 years old. He was born in the middle of the winter. Somehow, he made his way to a home that would take him to their local animal shelter, where he was fortunately adopted out promptly. Unfortunately his new home was just a weekend getaway, and he was promptly returned to the animal shelter. This became a trend for him. That is, until I adopted him.

Ruger is plagued by allergies that leave him scratching himself bald. I have used my entire emergency fund and savings to provide for him and his special needs for the last 4 years, but his need is ongoing for allergy medication (Apoquel) and a special diet due to his 113 food allergies including every protein allergy except for Alligator, Kangaroo and Insect protein!

Ruger means the world to our family, but more importantly he means the world to our daughter. They have really bonded over the last 4 years and he is her self appointed body guard. Our family chose him after losing the dog we had for 15 years to old age, Duke. Duke was my soul dog and it broke my heart when he passed from old age. After 6 months, my heart was ready when this sweet boy came along.

In the midst of adopting Ruger, our daughter developed some health issues that led to many hospitalizations that required her to be removed from school, thus forcing me to leave my job and give up my income to be here to homeschool our daughter.
