About this campaign

Ryder never should have been outside. This sweet senior cat was found trying to survive on the streets with all four paws declawed — a heartbreaking and extremely dangerous situation. Declawed cats have no way to properly defend themselves from predators, other animals, or even the harsh realities of life outdoors. Being left outside in this condition is not just unfair — it’s incredibly cruel.

When Adopt a Cat Foundation learned about Ryder, we immediately made space for him and brought him to safety. After everything he had already endured, the last thing he deserved was another night outside trying to survive without claws to protect himself.

Once Ryder arrived, we quickly scheduled a veterinary visit to evaluate his health. A senior blood panel revealed that Ryder is suffering from hyperthyroidism, a common but serious condition in older cats that can cause weight loss, increased heart rate, and other complications if left untreated. Ryder has now started daily medication to manage the condition, but treatment doesn’t end there. He will need ongoing veterinary visits and repeat bloodwork to monitor his thyroid levels and determine whether his medication dosage is correct. On top of that, Ryder is also battling an upper respiratory infection, which he is currently receiving treatment for as he settles into his safe indoor environment.

Despite everything he’s been through — abandonment, surviving outdoors while declawed, and now multiple medical issues — Ryder is safe now. He finally has a warm place to rest and people looking out for him. But his medical care comes at a cost.

Your donation will help cover:

• Veterinary exams and diagnostics

• Senior bloodwork and follow-up thyroid testing

• Medication for hyperthyroidism

• Treatment for his respiratory infection

• Ongoing care as Ryder stabilizes and begins to recover

Senior cats like Ryder are so often overlooked, but they deserve comfort, safety, and compassion in their golden years. Ryder survived the streets without the basic tools a cat needs to protect himself. Now that he’s safe, we want to make sure he receives the medical care he needs to feel better and finally enjoy the peaceful life he deserves.

Please consider donating to help Ryder receive the treatment and care he needs. Every contribution helps give this gentle senior the second chance he should have had all along.

3/30/26 Update

We’re happy to share a positive update on sweet senior Ryder. After everything he’s been through, he is finally getting the chance to rest, recover, and feel safe indoors — and it’s already making a difference.

Ryder has started treatment for his hyperthyroidism and is adjusting well to his daily medication. He’s also been receiving care for his upper respiratory infection. The good news is that he is feeling better, and we’re beginning to see improvements in his overall comfort and energy.

While he’s not fully recovered from the URI yet, Ryder is heading in the right direction. He’s resting comfortably, eating, and enjoying the calm, warm environment he was denied for far too long. His caregivers are continuing his medications and monitoring him closely as he continues to heal.

Senior cats often take a little longer to bounce back, especially after surviving outside — and even more so for a declawed cat like Ryder. But now that he’s safe and receiving consistent care, he finally has the support he needs to recover properly.

We’re so grateful to everyone who has helped Ryder so far. Your support has allowed us to start treatment, run diagnostics, and give him the stability he needed. As he continues recovering from his respiratory infection and we monitor his thyroid levels, ongoing support helps ensure he stays on track. Thank you for being part of Ryder’s journey and helping this gentle senior finally experience the comfort, safety, and care he deserves.

4/5/26 Update

We’re thrilled to share a wonderful final update on Ryder — he is doing so much better and has fully recovered!

When Ryder was first found outside, declawed and trying to survive on his own, we knew he faced incredible odds. A senior cat without claws has no way to defend himself, and it was heartbreaking to imagine how long he had been struggling. On top of that, he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was battling an upper respiratory infection. He had every reason to be exhausted — but Ryder never stopped being gentle and trusting.

Thanks to your support, Ryder received the veterinary care he needed, including diagnostics, treatment for his respiratory infection, and medication for his hyperthyroidism. We’re happy to report that his URI has completely resolved, and he is feeling comfortable, relaxed, and finally able to enjoy the safety of indoor life.

Even better, Ryder is doing great with his hyperthyroid medication. He takes his daily meds like a champ, and his caregivers report that he has settled into a calm, happy routine. With his condition now well-managed, Ryder is gaining strength, maintaining his appetite, and enjoying the peaceful environment he always deserved.

It’s amazing to see the transformation. The cat who once had to struggle to survive outdoors is now resting comfortably, feeling better each day, and living a safe, stable life surrounded by care and compassion.

We are so grateful to everyone who donated, shared his story, and helped make his recovery possible. Because of you, Ryder didn’t just survive — he healed. Senior cats like Ryder may come with medical needs, but they are incredibly resilient, and they deserve every chance to feel safe and loved.

Thank you for being part of Ryder’s journey and helping give this sweet senior the second chance he always deserved.
