About this campaign
We purchased Sadie from a breeder to be my new medical alert dog. Two days after we brought her home, before any real training, she grabbed my shirt when I stood up from the couch. She was already letting me know it wasn't safe for me to get up. Now she tells me when I can't get up, when I need to go lay down, when my heart is going too fast, and when I am going to have a headache or panic attack
The vet diagnosed Sadie with diabetes on February 4th and immediately sent her to the hospital because of her extremely high blood sugar. The first hospital stay was $6000. We used scratchpay becsuse we already have a CareCredit loan we used on our cat's vet bill last year. On the 20th Sadie went back in the hospital because of a second diabetic crisis. This bill is estimated at $8k
Sadie is a goofy pup who insists on shaking our clothes thoroughly before we can put them on. She loves playing with her brother, our other dog Gizmo. They wrestle all the time and take turns on who gets to win. Sadie is completely devoted to me and won't let me out of her sight, so her being in the hospital is very difficult for both of us. Especially since we don't have a car to visit her.
My husband had to take unpaid leave from his job to help me while Sadie is gone. We just found black mold in the home and the roof above our bedroom has a leak that destroyed our mattress. So we have to figure those out while he is home as well. It's been a tough month!
