Sadie is a 6-year-old Labrador Retriever in Chicopee, MA, who needs $2,000 for Blastomycosis Eye Enucleation.

I was first introduce to my dog Sadie approximately one week prior to the Covid Pandemic. I was looking for a dog to adopt prior to this event because I was finally recovered from a couple shoulder surgeries and able to care for another pet again. Sadie was a three year old Black Lab that someone gave up to an animal rescue. I called home to not let my wife know I mean ask if we could adopt Sadie

Sadie is a family member that we all love. She is my jogging companion and friend. She my wife's 75lb. lap dog while reading and my son's sleeping mate many a night. Sadie travels with us on most occasions and is a guest and all of our families homes. She has several dog friends that we go for long walks with or just hang for play time in our yards. Sadie is our baby and as friendly as can be.

Sadie is constantly trying to meet ever person or animal that she encounters and she is infectious. She always seems happy and full of energy. She is a 6 year old black lab who believes she is still a puppy. When I take in our yard or a friends yard Sadie will express her energy by doing laps and zooming around the yard. just watching can make you tired.

Diagnosed with Blastomycosis a Fungal infection that that took multiple vets and specialty hospitals to find the disease. Slow diagnosis delayed treatment and the infection spread through her body to her eyes causing blindness. Hospitalized and on expensive meds. Treatment is from 6 months - 1 year with a recommendation that both eyes be Enucleated now. Port City Vet, Drs. Benedict & Mitchell.

Maxed out our care credit card and will have continued meds and monitoring needed. We have assumed over $8000 plus in current vet bills plus we need $5000 for the removal of both Sadies eyes. Additional monitoring and meds for 6 mo. to 1 yr approx. $4000 - $5000.
