Sadie Sue Powell is a 10-year-old Boxer/Boston Terrier mix in Orange, VA, who needs $1,261 for critical surgery.

On Mother's Day 2011, Gretchen P.'s life changed forever. It was the day her husband and kids surprised her with Sadie.

"She was eight weeks old, and we all fell in love with her immediately," Gretchen tells Waggle.

Then, tragically, in 2017, Gretchen's life changed again. She lost her husband, a firefighter, who made the ultimate sacrifice while on duty. And Sadie knows how much Gretchen needs her.

"She still keeps a close eye on me. She grieved just as we did. She is my therapy pet, for sure. I don't know what I would do without her," Gretchen says.

Now Gretchen and Sadie need your help. Sadie developed a cancerous lump on her right hip and needs it removed ASAP. After all the struggles Gretchen has been through, she needs financial help paying for Sadie's care.

"Things have never been good or back to normal since my husband passed," Gretchen says. "I moved my dad in to take care of him. About one year ago, I had to leave my job to take care of him full-time. Mom passed in April 2021, and my dad in January 2022. I'm just recently back to work."
