Sage was found by a neighbor’s daughter in January hiding on top of her car tire. She posted on the neighborhood page about him needing a home. He came to us shortly after that. At the time we had lost our kitty to cancer, and we were happy to offer Sage a home. He was about three months old at the time. He’s incredibly sweet. He lives with us, two dogs and three kids.

Recently Sage had surgery to remove a foreign body in his colon. One vet thought he had pancreatitis before that, so he had been sick for almost two weeks by the time the surgery occurred. He was doing better until last night when we noticed the same symptoms and we think he has eaten something else despite our efforts to block access to things he might play with. Sage has always been so special. He is wonderful with our kids and dogs. He’s extremely playful and loving. He loves to purr, cuddle, and play. He’s the kind of cat that is like a unicorn, especially considering he had a rough start to life.

Last year I was laid off and it took nine months to find another job. As a result of that it will take me years to recover. So far we have spent about $3000 to come to a diagnosis and first surgery, and we are scared to pay for another while trying to support our kids.
