Sage is a 7-year-old Pit Bull Mix in Hudson, MI, who needs $900 for Cancer Excision.

Sage is 7 years young. We've had her since she was about 6 weeks old. Although we own our home, I'm currently a college student. I'm currently in my clinical rotation, and will finish in December. Once I graduate college and become a sonographer, I will be able to afford Sage's care, however it's just this momentary money restriction that's put us in a terrible bind.

The. Biggest. Baby. She is everyone's princess. Sage is the best girl, and we can let her roam our yard without a leash without her sniffing into the neighbor's yards. (supervised of course!) She is protective of her human brothers, but has not met a single human or animal she doesn't like. Sage loves a good snuggle on the couch, and always makes you feel better when you're sick.

She sings when it's dinner time. 6:30pm, on the dot, like clockwork. Sage will not go outside to potty when it's dark out; she'll just hold it until daytime like a good puppy. She is also scared of thunder, lightning, and rain, but I think it's just her excuse for extra snuggles (still waiting for her to realize she doesn't need excuses for that!)

We have been struggling with this paw for over a year now. At first, it started off as an extra nail growing out of her paw pad. She had surgery to remove that nail, and healed up beautifully but it's now progressed into cancer. Sage cannot bear any weight on that paw, and as a result has developed spondylosis of her back. The vet gives her a great prognosis at a long life if we can get surgery.

Being a college student with only my husband working, we can barely afford our regular bills, much less a surgery for Sage. She is my soul dog, my best friend. The fact that I can't afford her care fills me with guilt, because she deserves the best. I need her in my life.
