Salem is a 5-year-old American Shorthair Cat in Manchester, CT, who needs $2,000 for Dental Work.

We adopted Salem from a shelter when he was 2 years old. He was kept in the office in a cage because he didn't get along with other cats. We were told he had some mouth work done, but we didn't know he had so much more dental work that he needs. Then Covid happened and i couldn't take him to vet. When I did get to take him to the vet they informed me that he needed $1973.00 in dental work.

Salem is a blessing. He has a great relationship with me and my husband and son. With me he is loving and craves my attention. He will reach up to me on my desk reaching out to me and my husband that way. At night he spends his nights with my husband hunting bugs. He once ate a a stink bug he had a bad taste for a few days, so he now finds bugs and lets us know so we get it.

When we are in the kitchen, he will flop out on his back and wiggle around. His favorite toy in a spinner ball before he came home. He gets the zoomies. and hops through the apt. We just laugh at the things he does trying to climb the walls, attacking his toys. He loves his Chewy deliveries. He wants us to open it as soon as it gets here. He loves playing and sliding into the paper filler.

I was told that they had to work on his mouth, but didn't tell me he needed more work, I took Salem VCA Animal Hospital of Vernon to look at an injury. He had cut his paw. I updated his shots and physical. Thats was when they mentioned the dental work he needed. He often slobbered a lot . We figured it was because of the oral work. But we didnt occurred to us that he still needed work

I am disabled. I receive an SSDI check but it is the only income we have for 3 people. Salem gives me so much love. I ache because he is now having more trouble eating. He is also my registered Emotional Support Animal. He keeps me calm when i am anxious.
