About this campaign
In 2010, a small brindle puppy came into my life. Slung over my shoulder as we were going home, one of the first things ever said to me about her was "that puppy looks like a tiger!" and she really did. Since that day, Sally has been my constant companion. She has traveled around the country with me. From college dorm to seeing her dads finally marry, she's seen it all.
Sally is the steadfast mediator of our family. From gently loving her 15 year old older "brother" to tolerating the antics of her 4 year old "sister". She is the one to walk beside us and never stray. The one to find the stray piece of food we left out at nose level. The one to beg to lean her head out of the window, but complain if I'm going more than 30 miles an hour.
Sally's emergency visit and subsequent diagnosis comes 48 hours after our wedding. We have used all of our saving and almost all of our wedding gift money to treat her so far, and more medication and x-rays will be required as time goes on.
Sally is currently being treated for tumors in her lungs. While her prognosis is unclear and we do not yet know how much time we have left, we know that we have to fight for her. Her breathing is labored and her heart rate is erratic. We do not know if the tumors have also affected her heart. She is currently home but being treated at Pocono Lake Animal Hospital by Dr. Miller.
When Sally was a 2 year old, she began training as a medical assistance dog. For years, she protected my very life and saved it countless times from my varying medical conditions. She is fearless (unless you put your foot too close to her that is) and the one I have leaned on for a decade when everything else seemed lost.
