Sam is a 12-year-old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie in Richland , WA, who needs $1,070 for CT scan.

Sam is my world. He came to me at 5 months from a young lady who was working far more than she anticipated and felt terrible that he had to be crated up all day. We have gone on so many adventures, loved so many people, lived in so many different places and he has always been my security, my peace and my solace. He knows when I’m upset and is always there to comfort me and love me unconditionally

Sam and I live with my boyfriend and our kitten Titan. We spend a lot of time at my family’s house with their three dogs and two cats, and also love to be at my best friend’s house with her pets and kids. Sam loves everyone! After an initial bark or growl to let a new person know I’m his to guard he’s happy to interact, play and cuddle. He loves cats, kittens and other small animals.

I just put $500 on a credit card for Sam’s initial diagnoses and I have no money and no credit remaining. Since my mental health diagnosis in 2017 my work has been sporadic and generally low-paying. I currently work part-time and most of my money has to be spent on bills.

Sam was just diagnosed by Dr. Molton at Sunrise Vet in Benton City, WA. At first we thought he had laryngeal paralysis but his x-rays showed he has a small mass in his larynx. Tri-Cities clinics do not have the equipment or resources to give him the CT scan he needs to find out what this mass is, nor to provide the surgery and possible other treatment that he will need. We need to go to WSU!

Sam is so strong and so beautiful. It’s only this year that I have to be careful how much we exercise, due to the mass in his larynx. Our lives have involved countless miles, endless peaks and so many safe, warm nights. He’s compact but possesses so much strength and stamina - and don’t get me started on his beautiful furry coat! He keeps me motivated, energized and happy & inspires me every day.
